Pressure Question

Post by nat79 »

Hi,

I'm trying to understand some internal flow results I have. Both total pressure drop and static pressure drop are provided. Static pressure drop is greater than the total pressure drop, what is the reason for this? I thought total pressure had to be greater than static pressure because...

TP = Static Pressure + Dynamic Pressure

as the static pressure drop is higher, does this mean the dynamic pressure has increased and not seeing the pressure recovery, so that the difference between the Static Pressure drop and the Total Pressure Drop is the Dynamic Pressure? Or is the difference between the Static Pressure drop and the Total Pressure Drop the losses through the system??

Please help.
