Am getting different feedbacks from different sources, appreciate it if I can get forum's input.
To determine the estimate flow in a small bore pipe.
Gas : Nitrogen
Pressure: est 8 bar
Pipe diameter: 1 in
Pipe material: Carbon steel
Pipe length : 50 ft
Thanks in advance.
Gas Flow In Small Pipe
Re: Gas Flow In Small Pipe
You must tell me the pressure difference from start to finish to calculate flow rate.
I think that 8 bar is on the start, and what do you have on the end - a tank or atmosphere or cylinder?

Re: Gas Flow In Small Pipe
Sorry about that.
It flows into a 6 in pipe & then vented out after 150 ft. There's no valve along the 6 in line. Its part of a system to purge out natural gas if there's any leak at the NG pressure reducing installation.
Hope it is sufficient

I still don't have calculator for this kind of problem but you can read theory at:
Discharge through valves, fittings and pipes http://www.pipeflowcalculations.com/pip ... _pipes.htm
and for expansion factor Y please find formula for orifices at:
Flow through nozzles and orifices http://www.pipeflowcalculations.com/pip ... ifices.htm
