Pulsed gas into a chamber

Post by popkian »

Hi, I am designing a pulsed valve system in order to introduce some gases to our reaction chamber. in order to do that I need to calculate the evacuation time of my gas into the reaction chamber. below is the explanation of the problem.

Problem: we have pipe (1/4" in diameter) and with a known length and volume. we fill it up with a gas with a known pressure. after it filled up with the gas, we close the valve to the gas source and we open the pipe to a chamber with a known volume and pressure. I am interested to calculate the time it takes for the gas to transfer to the chamber. below is the schematic .
this condition is assumed: V1<V2 , Pi1 > Pi2 , T is assumed to be constant in the process.
Pi represent the initial pressures in pipe and chamber before we open the pipe to the chamber.
please see the attached file.

I really appreciate it if you can help me with this problem.
