Pressure at Pump Suction in Closed System
Pressure at Pump Suction in Closed System
I've recent done some pressure drop calculations on a closed system using a centrifugal pump. Each service has flow regulation valves to ensure proper flow. I am getting a high pressure (approximately 35 psi) at the pump suction but I'm pretty sure in a real life situation this pressure would regulate out. Can someone provide insight into the pump suction pressure that is showing in my calculations
Re: Pressure at Pump Suction in Closed System
You might have that pressure due to hydrostatic pressure. What is elevation difference off the system?

Re: Pressure at Pump Suction in Closed System
It's a closed system so all pressure loss due to elevation is negligible.
Re: Pressure at Pump Suction in Closed System
Even if the system is closed and for example you have 50 m height difference, pressure on the lowest point will have at least that 50 m water pressure.
