Depressurization In Tubing Calculation

Post by lws »

Hello;

Thanks in advance for any help in answering my question.

I have a 350ft length of .375” ID Teflon tubing. I have a pressure transmitter, an air source and a solenoid at the near end and just a solenoid at the far end. I close the solenoid at the far end and pressurize the tubing to 70 psig. I would like to know how long it takes for the pressure to drop 36.8% (or to 25.76 PSI) at the near end of the tubing when I open the solenoid at the far end to atmosphere. (Assume no bends in the tubing or flow restriction from the far end solenoid)

Could you show the formulas and numbers for the answer? I will need the write some logic my PLC based on them.

Thanks again.
