Air flow

Post by Lawrence Moench »

My wife is on a oxygen tank system for her lungs. The health provider has provided her "E" size tanks and a oxygen generator made by Phillips. The oxygen gererator has a 50' polyflow line with a I.D. of .187 Dia. Her flow rate is 3 liters per min.
It appears to me she is getting less flow from the oxygen generator then the "E" size tanks because of the flow drop due to the 50' pollyflow. If this is true how much flow is she loosing?
How much should I increase the flow when she is on the oxygen generator?

Is there a flow meter somewhere in the line? If this is showing the correct figure, there will be sufficient flow independent from the pressure drop (provided that the calibration was done correctly).

If flow is adjusted by a volumetric pump (e.g. piston, diaphragm, displacer or flexible tube pump) the flow rate should be also sufficient independent from the pressure drop (again, provided that calibration was done in a correct manner).
