Help! Coursework assignment, fluid mechcanics!

Post by ben.widdowson »

Hi

I wonder whether anyone can help? I have been set some couserwork for Uni but I am stuck

I have calculated the maximum flow rate of the building (4.89 l/s) in the question and sized the pipe work from the cold water storage tank, but I am now asked determine the minimum head at the intake to the building to deliver water to the storage cistern at the maximu flow rate. The cistern is at a height of 7500mm. How can I calculate this given I dont know the pressure of the main?

Further on the question says if the mains water were replaced by a rainwater collector, determine the maximum water flow rate and select one type of pipe and pump to deliver treated rain water to the house

I can scan the question and forward you a copy to an email address if that helps?

Any help would be apprecaited

Many thanks

Ben
