Re: Ruptured crude pipeline

There is no specific fluid dynamics easy solution that can handle flow through non regular cavities in pipes. Numerical simulation should be used and that is not an easy process. When you shut down pumps only gravity is forcing fluid to flow out from pipe, so depending on the actual pump head the pr...

Re: Punctured pipe decompression

If you have no leak just the puncture than you can check it with gauge. Flow through a hole depends on pressure difference and as it changes over time, also flow will change. The curve should be like exponential.

I think it is the characteristic of instrument and the level contamination

Re: Punctured pipe decompression

If you have discharge from pipe and a possible discharge from puncture I think there is no chance with pressure sensors to find out if something is going out from the pipe due to puncture. Very precise flow meter on the start and on the end of pipe can indicate that you have puncture, but it depends...

Re: speed and flow in a sample pipe connected to main pipe

For the stated flow rate of 1L/min and pipe diameter d=25,4 mm I get v=1.97 m/min. This means that 20 m will require 20/1,97 = 10,15 min. You can use calculator at: http://www.pipeflowcalculations.com/flowrate/index.htm for this calculation. If flow rate is 10 L/m than the time is 10 times shorter -...

I am not sure if I understand you correctly, but the hydrostatic pressure of water or any other fluid is p=rho*g*h [Pa]

Re: how to calculate RAW FLOW through control valve

Flow will change with the different position of closing element. You should have the diagram of flow rate to pressure drop change from manufacturer. Or, if you have flow coefficient Cv, Kv, than you can calculate full capacity. Flow will change from 0 to that maximum in some way - linear, logarithm ...

Re: Flow capacity of 8 Inch dia line at 30 kg/cm2

First, can you please explain what KCM is for? What are the distances between two lines - as it is the length of 4 inch / 8 inch line - right? What are diameters for both lines? Where is that connection going to - if it is far from consumers, than it will not help a lot. If the connection will be cl...
