Water flow rate in a pipe

Post by morika »

I've been given some data and I must show that water the flow rate in the pipe is 24.25kg/s
Water storage tank is 12m above ground
Water is fed from the tank to the field along a pipe 250m long
Diameter of pipe is 125mm
Friction factor for the pipe is 0.007
K factors:
Tank exit - 0.5
Bend (x2) - 0.9
Valve - 1.0
I've tried different equations but without success, can anybody help please? Please help! Anybody?

Here is what I get using pressure drop and flow rate calculator at:
http://www.pipeflowcalculations.com/pressuredrop/

Pipe pressure drop calculator CALCULATION REPORT
1. volumetric flow rate (q): q = 127.61925 m3/h
2. mass flow rate (w): w = 127619.25 kg/h
3. length (L): L = 250 m
4. diameter (D): D = 125 mm
5. pipe roughness (kr): kr = 0.007 mm
6. density (ρ): ρ = 1000 kg/m3
7. kinematic viscosity (ν): ν = 1 mm2/s
8. dynamic viscosity (μ): μ = 0.0010 Pas
9. local resistence coefficient (K ): K = 2.4
10. velocity (V): V = 2.8886986 m/s
11. cross section area (A): A = 12271.847 mm2
12. friction coefficient (f): f = 0.012907241
13. Reynolds number (Re): Re = 361087.3
14. boundary layer (δ): δ = 0.10746495 mm
15. pressure on the pipe start (p1): p1 = 22.328746 mWS
16. pressure on the pipe end (p2): p2 = 1.01325 bar
17. pressure drop (p1-p2): p1-p2 = 12 mWS
