Thrust from open gas line?

Post by Rich »

Assume the pressure in a 3/4 inch natural pipe line (.824 I.D.) remains constant at 150 psig.; what is the thrust/force created as the gas exits the 3/4 inch open line?

It is density x velocity^2 x area

that should be the product of dynamic pressure and the area of the Pipe;
Force = (1/2 x Density x velocity^2) x (0.7854 x dia^2)
