Error in Sudden and Gradual Contraction K Factor?

Post by NavierIsStoked »

I was looking at both the calculator and theory for calculating the K factor through elargements and contractions and think you might have an error.

It looks like you are referencing Crane, but I think you added a squared term.

For sudden contraction you have:

K1 = 0.5 * (1 - beta^2) ^2

The Crane reference has it as:

K1 = 0.5 * (1 - beta^2)

The squared term is only in the sudden enlargement term (which you have):

K1 = (1 - beta^2) ^2

Just something I found.

Well spotted, thank you for correction!
I have just made change in calculator and theory page itself.
