water chilling

Post by laibach »

i have problems with calculating how much chilling enery we need to chill 10m3 amount of watter.
it is possible to help me someone?

I have compresors with chill power of 30kW. i need to chill water from +1 celsius to -5 degree. ( ice making). Is this enough to chill 10m3 of water?
How much time i need with that power of compressors?

Thanks in advance for your help

You can try with thermal energy calculator.

Here are results that I have with your inputs:

Heater/Chiler calculator

1. mass flow rate (w):
w : 1.1944578 kg/s
2. volumetric flow rate (q):
q : 4.3000445 m3/h
3. density (ρ):
ρ : 1000.0 kg/m3
4. diameter (D):
D : 60 mm
5. velocity (V):
V : 0.422453 m/s
6. specific heat (c):
c : 4186 J/kgK
7. thermal power (P):
P : 30 KW
8. inlet tempearture (T1):
T1 : 1 C
9. outlet tempearture (T2):
T2 : -5 C

It means that with 30 kW chiller power you can change temperature of water from 1 to -5 C with flow of 4,3 m3/h. So for 10 m3 you would need about 2.5 h.
